Youth Apprenticeship Program
By investing in youth, we invest in our future. That’s why the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the Madison Metropolitan School District to grow the Youth Apprenticeship Program.
The rigorous, two-year elective, offered to juniors and seniors, combines classroom instruction with mentored, on-the-job training. A LaFollette High Senior student participant, who worked as a pharmacy technician, said the program gave him “a glimpse of the real world.”
The program provides students with occupational and hands-on work experience to positively impact the communities’ future workforce. Brendan O’Rourke from Isthmus Engineering & Manufacturing Cooperative said, “The Youth Apprenticeship Program serves our community with a valuable education service by enabling young people to participate in these real work experiences.”
While, Charlie Cupp with Zimbrick Honda Service Center added, “The program is a win-win situation, not only for the employee, but for the employers and also our schools.”
