The Alliance® Receives $5,000 Grant to Develop aForum on Addressing Barriers to Treating Obesity
MADISON, Wis. (Jan. 19, 2018) – The Alliance® received a matching grant of $5,000 from the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions to hold an obesity forum. The National Alliance is a non-profit organization that provides expertise, resources and leadership for 50 purchaser-led coalitions across the U.S, representing 12,000 health care employers providing coverage to over 45 million Americans.
The grant will help fund a half-day forum that will engage multi-stakeholders – employers, doctors, pharmacists, patients and associations – to create pathways forward in addressing the barriers to preventing and treating obesity.
The Alliance is hosting the event titled Obesity in the Workplace: A Critical Conversation with Varying Viewpoints on Feb. 13, 2018 in Fitchburg, Wis. from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The event will bring together the facts, health benefit plan design ideas, wellness program approaches and employer examples that show ways to reduce obesity rates in the workplace.
