Madison Ballet Announces Generous $20,000 Challenge Grant Campaign

(Madison, WI) Madison Ballet is delighted to announce it has been awarded a $20,000 matching challenge grant by an anonymous Madison couple. The grant, given in support of Madison Ballet’s 2017/18 Season Programming and Outreach, will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, all contributions from supporters who donate on or before July 31, 2017.

As the organization gears up for its 2017/18 Season, General Manager Gretchen Bourg and Development Director Alicia Kopp, announced the generous pledge.

Artistic Director W. Earle Smith is thrilled at the news. “Everything that Madison Ballet brings to the community is made possible by our loyal supporters. Whether it’s engaging children in the love of dance, bringing professional ballets to tens of thousands of area residents each year, or fostering the work of emerging choreographers, our donors make it possible for us to produce world-class performances and educational programs right in our back yard.”

Adds Bourg, “We are very grateful to our anonymous donors for investing in our company in a way that encourages others to deepen their support.”

Now entering its 36th season, Madison Ballet is best known for producing the city’s most dazzling holiday performance, The Nutcracker in Overture Hall, The show features Madison Ballet resident company of professional dancers alongside over 130 local students and adults. Madison Ballet also operates the highly regarded School of Madison Ballet on Madison’s west side and has several well-established outreach programs, such as Movement in Your World (a partnership with the Dane County Parent Council Head Start classrooms) and a robust Master Class series for local dancers.
