Carl Sandburg Elementary, located on Madison’s east side is the winner of a $1,000 grant from Old National Bank (ONB).

Old National Bank (ONB) recently completed its third annual Tools for Schools grant promotion, a company-wide campaign created to help get the school year started right for countless students in need in local communities.

A voting page was created for each of Old National’s regions throughout Wisconsin, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indiana with participating school districts pre-populated to make the voting collection easy. 99,184 votes were cast for nearly 840 schools in approximately 358 cities.  Grants for $1,000 are now being awarded to the schools with the most votes in each region.

An earlier phase of Tools for Schools collected school supplies which were distributed locally in Southern Wisconsin. More than 8,000 items were collected in Wisconsin and nearly 33,000 items were collected in the Old National five state footprint. In Dane County, supplies were donated to local schools and to 100 Black Men of Madison.
