Madison, WI – The Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) announces Peter Rodgers, a native of Madison who has spent the majority of his career on the West Coast in marketing and the arts, will start as its new marketing director July 18, 2016.
Rodgers served as the director of marketing for the Marin (CA) Symphony Orchestra for several years where he developed and implemented a comprehensive new audience development program that resulted in increased donations and ticket sales. He is also the founder and creative director of the branding and integrated marketing firm Montara Creative for over 23 years, serving such clients as the San Francisco Art Institute, Apple Computer, SONOMA Magazine, and Shutterfly. He is currently the director of marketing & communications for the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership in San Rafael, California.
MSO Executive Director Rick Mackie said, “The Board and I welcome Peter to our Symphony family of committed musicians, patrons, donors, staff and volunteers. The depth and breadth of his skills and experience will help us advance the cause of great music in Madison and south central Wisconsin.”
Rodgers said, “I am thrilled to embrace this opportunity and excited to bring my talent, knowledge, and skills home to Madison to serve the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the community.”
Peter holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While growing up in Madison and playing the violin, he performed with the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
He will be replacing current Marketing Director Teri Venker, who announced her retirement, effective in July, earlier this spring at the end of Season 2015-16.
The Madison Symphony Orchestra starts its 91st season with the 2016-17 concerts. The MSO engages audiences of all ages and backgrounds in live classical music through a full season of concerts with established and emerging soloists of international renown, an organ series that includes free concerts, and widely respected education and community engagement programs.
