Catholic Charities Begins to Advance Equity with the Hiring of their First Racial Equity Coordinator
MADISON: Catholic Charities is pleased to announce the creation of a Racial Equity Coordinator position to promote equity and inclusion within Catholic Charities and the communities and clients they serve.
Serving as the agency’s first Racial Equity Coordinator, Stephanie Muñoz will develop programs rooted in equity and social justice with special emphasis on serving groups of people that are marginalized, oppressed and underserved. She will also act as the liaison for community-based organizations, businesses, and government entities and work collaboratively with them to advance equity, inclusion, and diversity as core institutional values central to Catholic Charities’ mission to provide compassionate and caring services to the community.
“Stephanie holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is passionate about empowering marginalized populations,” said Jackson Fonder, President and CEO of Catholic Charities. “She has experience working with local community leaders and government agencies to advocate for social justice and racial equity.”
Catholic Charities is committed to providing equitable delivery of community services and has established a Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities (RRED) Committee, which will be chaired by Muñoz.
“We are thrilled to add this new position and have Stephanie join us to provide guidance in nurturing a climate that is welcoming, inclusive, respectful and free from discrimination, intolerance, and harassment.”
