Madison, Wis. – Overture Center is creating a large-scale community mosaic, and announced a call for submission of digital images of original artworks that will function as the “source image” for the mural. The large-scale mosaic mural, which will feature snapshots of Overture’s community and audiences, will be used to create a digital photo mosaic reproduction of the selected original artwork. The final product will be permanently on display in Overture Center.

The theme of the original artwork should include a celebration of arts and community at Overture Center in the Madison region or in the larger Wisconsin region. A call for submission of community members’ digital photos will be announced at a later date.  An artist honorarium of $1000 will be awarded.  Overture may select more than one artist if the images work well together.

Link to application – submission deadline Tuesday, January 10, 2017. To apply, artists must fill out the online application which includes basic contact info, bio or resume, up to 10 images and an image list.

The dimensions of the final photomosaic will be approximately 5 feet tall by 20 feet long.  This image can be printed and framed as one large horizontal image or several smaller vertical images (such as triptych or quadriptych style).

The digital images should be approximately 3000 pixels in the largest dimension.

Please note:  Overture may crop your image(s). Your image(s), if chosen, will be combined with the mosaic photographs.
